This smocking ancillary material is known by many names such as smocking thread, and cover rubber elastic,… In fact, these names come from its form: The small round shape as a thread and good stretch.
Raw materials for production of smocking thread include natural rubber fibers, Spandex, Polyester, nylon, Cotton and other fibers. In there:
- Rubber thread 37, 42, 52 and 63 is covered by polyester yarn.
- Spandex yarn 210, 420, 560 and 840 (also known as k3, k4, k5 and k6) are covered with polyester yarn.
Depending on the needs of customers, the following indicators will be flexibly changed if required:
- Stretch
- Shrinkage
- Big or small size
- Color
The application of smocking thread in the smocking industry
Smocking thread is widely used in the garment industry. The finished products are made with higher productivity and relatively low cost when compared to the woven elastic. Therefore, smocking thread is used to replace this round elastic in products requiring low strength such as: bags, hashtags, nametags, gloves and masks.
In addition, based on its stretchy properties, smocking thread is also used to produce short socks, gloves, bandages, women’s bras, sewing thread to sew into fabrics (shrugged t-shirts) and other decorative accessories. On the other hand, smocking thread is also used in the packaging industry.
